Acromio-Clavicular Separation - (shoulder joint dislocation)
It has been brilliant working with Ade at RISE.
He enabled me to get back on the bike as soon as I could and gave me the confidence that my shoulder could be stronger than before, (who knew I could do pull ups!) so that I could have the strength and fitness to ride all of the trails I rode before and more.
Thank you so much for all of your support and patience.

Adhesive Capsulitis Client - (frozen shoulder)
I came to see Adrian originally for ‘arm pump’ issues that were really limiting my riding. I also had a right shoulder injury I thought I was tolerating well, but knew it wasn’t quite right. Unfortunately, the very next day after my initial consultation, I had a massive crash, injuring my left shoulder quite badly and my hand. So, Adrian then had multiple injuries to work on. Working with Adrian has been great and the results have been quite dramatic. He puts me at ease during sessions and gets right to the cause of issues. His knowledge of body mechanics and corrective techniques is mind blowing.
He has helped me to continue riding my bike throughout my treatment (thank you!) and after some hard work, I now have a much improved range of movement in both arms. On top of all this, besides treating my injuries, I continue working regularly with Adrian because he is also helping me with other MTB specific strategies to improve my riding in general. He has become a big part of helping me enjoy the sport I love even more.

Comminuted Tibial Plateau Fracture with ligamentous injuries and compartment syndrome - (Complex broken leg)
I have been fortunate enough to be able to work with Ade at RISE to get me back to fighting fit as quickly as possible. Ade is a genius, working through building strength and mobility. We started a week after I got the frame fitted back at the end of April, steady progress has meant that the three weeks since having the frame removed, I've been able to do way more than I ever expected! I thought I was going to be sofa ridden for a month, there’s still plenty of work on going but feeling super motivated to keep pushing.
First time getting an actual sweat on in seven months when riding the watt bike yesterday was an absolute dream, who knew exercise bikes could be such fun!
If you have an injury anywhere on your body want to learn how to make your body better, get stronger to have more fun in life go speak to RISE.

Lumbar Disc Herniation Client - (back pain)
I came to see Adrian after suffering a back injury, a herniated disc, which was triggered by moving a heavy kitchen appliance. It was likely the weakness had been there for quite some time as a result of poor posture and lack of strength and conditioning to balance against long hours of road cycling. The injury severely hampered mobility and resulted in significant sciatic pain from lower back down the left leg and in to foot and toes.
I tried for several weeks’ treatment and exercises from more traditional physios that had some impact in suppressing pain for short periods but after several weeks it was apparent the problem was not going away and whilst there was limited success in suppressing symptoms the root cause remained problematic and was not improving.
The RISE approach considers how potentially the smallest of imbalance in one part of the body may play a significant part in malfunction elsewhere, looking at overall alignment and muscular weaknesses so as to prescribe corrective action.
Adrian clearly enjoys his work and has a real passion for published clinical research and how to effectively apply this to symptoms presented by his clients. He clearly defines the problem and a plan to move forward and progress with recovery.
It requires diligence and patience as corrective spinal exercises can take time and an amount of work, but the bottom line is it works! Would I recommend RISE? YES!

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome - (Knee Pain)
I was referred to Adrian by a friend as I was suffering with an extreme painful knee pain. Ade was super friendly and understanding right off the bat.
Over the past year my knees have been getting more and more painful to the stage where I couldn’t walk down the stairs properly without holding the railing. It was also affecting my riding too, I couldn’t ride longer than two hours and not take any big hits without them hurting.
I was worried as I thought i might have to have some sort of surgery on them to resolve this issue.
After two sessions with Adrian I found my knees improve and I was starting to feel like my old self. A few weeks later and I can’t believe the improvement I’ve seen now! I really liked his approach to everything and using the app made it very easy to keep a track on my recovery sessions.
I would highly recommend RISE to anyone who is suffering with any sort of injury! 10/10!

Client - (Knee Pain)
I was meant to do the week long Stone King Rally MTB race last year. This meant a step up in both the weekly distance and frequency of mountain bike rides I needed to do to prepare.
Unfortunately I am getting a little older now, and a few weeks before the event, I started getting really bad knee pain every time I rode more than an hour. So I booked into see Adrian straight away.
The bad news was it wasn’t going to be a quick fix. All that additional riding had meant that certain muscles had tightened, and were basically pulling my knee out of alignment.
After 3 months of intensive work with Adrian, I am now completely pain free when riding, more flexible and robust. At last I’m loving my riding again.
Morale of the story – I should have gone to Adrian before I ramped up my riding. I could have put a strength and flexibility programme in place, and made it to the start line of the Stone King…
Lesson learnt. Don’t be a Gareth – go try the benefits for yourself.
Happy Riding!

Severe Comminuted Tibial Plateau Fracture, Fibular Fracture 'Schatzker VI' and Osteomyelitis - (Complex broken leg)
I heard about Rise after speaking with a fellow rider Sam, who had a similar injury to mine. My injury was a very complex fracture to my left tibial plateau, fractured fibular, extensive damage to the meniscus, femur, ligament, tendon, nerve damage resulting in a near amputation 5 times over 10 months.
The injury stopped me from pretty much doing everything and anything in my life, and most of all my true passion of riding.
Consultants said I might never ride again, I might never walk again, I might not even have a complete leg at many points. After being told all this my mental health took a major turn for the worse, most days felt completely withdrawn and was diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
I chatted with Sam and was shocked at how quickly he got back to riding after working with Adrian. Sam gave me his details and I got in touch. Adrian replied literally a few hours after contacting him which I found to be incredible. I went to see Adrian, all I can say is WOW, as a clinician, he is just incredible. His approach, knowledge, and attention to detail in every possible way blew my mind and nothing was missed out.
The way he has supported me so far has just been awesome, both in clinic, at home doing rehab and recovery, and if you just want some advice, Adrian replies very quickly and makes it a very high priority.
Before working with Adrian, I was with another physio, but it was just not enough for me, as I wanted to get back fully to what I enjoy doing.
Working with Adrian, I am now back on the trails riding my MTB, getting stronger legs, and getting my confidence back more and more every ride.
I can now walk better than before seeing Adrian, I am not in as much pain and living life to its fullest.
All I can honestly say is, if you are looking for a therapist/clinician who is good, then OK.
But if you want a therapist/clinician who cares, helps, supports, and is amazingly incredible then Adrian is the person for you. I can so highly recommend Rise.
I want the best for myself, and I have got the best person in Adrian at Rise.

Lower Back Pain
I went to see Adrian after feeling sudden pain in my back during a workout, as someone that spends a lot of time being active, I was worried that an injury, especially in my back, would prevent me from doing a lot of the things I enjoy.
Having successfully avoided injury until this point I was unsure of how to progress towards recovery and prevent reoccurrence, so booked a session to get some guidance and understand my injury better.
Almost immediately Adrian was able to understand the nature of my injury and begin working to resolve it through a few sessions and the support that I could do at home. He was able to guide me on what activities I could safely do while we worked to return to full capacity and how best to approach my return to my usual activities and intensity.
The whole process took a matter of weeks which amazed me as I was expecting to be sulking on the sofa for months. Through the work we did, I have built a much better understanding of how to continue building strength and specifically a focus on form when working in the gym to prevent further issues.
Adrian does an amazing job at understanding each individual circumstance and it’s reassuring to know that whatever injury you might sustain, he has a whole wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise to get you back to doing everything you love!
Now if anyone I’m talking to mentions they have picked up an injury, I immediately recommend getting a session booked!

Bilateral Clavicular Fractures and Migraines -
(left and right broken collar bones).
Adrian’s INMT is a treatment unlike any other I’ve experienced, and it has had some astounding results.
Pain and soft tissue problems from historical injuries that were previously unresolved by any type of massage work are now gone, instant relief and improvement of severe migraines on occasion and ongoing improvement and long term health, all from a low pain and very chilled treatment. Highly recommended.

Tibial Plateau Fracture and Ligamentous injuries 'schatzker grade II' - (Complex broken leg)
My original reason for coming to Rise was for neck pain and concussion following a serious vehicle accident, then subsequently for rehab for multiple complex leg fractures from an accident at work.
Adrian put me at ease straight away, his approach is friendly and informal whilst still being very professional. He explains things clearly so it's easy to understand what's going on inside the body and how specific exercises will help.
I find the online RISE app extremely helpful, and the videos make it a lot easier to follow and remember the correct posture and specifics for each exercise. It's also good for tracking my progress.
My original issue cleared up very quickly and I don't have any problems with it now. My second issue is still ongoing however I've been told by medical professionals that I have already made more progress than they would have expected at all with such an injury, and 14 months on I am still seeing improvements. I am back to riding, to a higher standard than I ever expected but not yet to the pre- injury standard.
Hell yes! And I have, to several people

Expert Downhill Racer - RISE Sponsored Rider
I went to RISE to get fit for racing to compete at a higher level. From the training we do my performance on the bike has improved and I am stronger on the bike and ride faster with more ease.
Training at RISE is good and in a relaxed environment without pressure, Adrian is always professional and really knowledgeable, it’s the dogs.
I’ve definitely picked up injuries along the way and every time Adrian has always sorted me out so it’s like a one stop shop really, the full package.
I feel Adrian understands me when it comes to riding, racing and getting over injuries. Because he is a rider too and so he knows exactly what’s needed and what we go through. If there is a big race coming up he knows exactly what level of training is needed along with everything else involved.
I would certainly recommend Adrian and RISE!

Neck Pain, Shoulder Pain & Migraines
Following a very informative initial consultation, Adrian set to work, using various physio techniques, manipulating the muscles in my neck, shoulder and back.
After only 4 sessions, Adrian not only fixed the pain in my shoulder, I have gained full movement back in my neck and he has also cured my migraines too!
I cannot believe the difference and the amount of free movement I have now.
Throughout each session, I found Adrian to be very professional and good humoured; he truly puts his clients in the heart of his work.
I would not hesitate to recommend Rise MTB Performance.

I originally went to RISE for rehab focus and they were recommended to me multiple times by people!
Working with Adrian at RISE has been really good, can’t speak highly enough!
Using the RISE online app is great, I personally find it most useful for knowing what exercises I have to do and the rest and sets etc, but also the video’s are great for checking form!
I’m now back to normal service and training well and I would definitely recommend RISE to others, I already have!

Long rides but low energy, I needed to find out why. I was lucky enough to be put in contact with Adrian by my Chiropractor. Food, not all food was good food for me, I changed a few eating habits under Adrian's instruction and I'm amazed at the difference, feeling good on longer rides and recovery is far shorter.
I have got to say the information and advice I’ve had from Adrian has been invaluable. At 'Ard Rock Marathon I finished an hour in front of the guys I ride with, and they're normally waiting for me, finished feeling great!
If you are serious about improving your energy for whatever sport your involved in or even just improving your general well being, I can't recommend Adrian more strongly.

‘I first met Adrian at one of their MTB retreats which was a great experience and I guess the start of my journey! I’d been experiencing problems with blood sugar handling on rides and seemed to be unable to lose the excess weight I was carrying so I contacted Adrian a few weeks later to see if he could help.
Over the next few sessions we made changes to my diet and lifestyle which started showing me improvements immediately and had me feeling better than ever, I was actually able to ride my bike without bonking for the first time in months. With my diet on track, it seemed like a natural progression for us to then start looking into other areas that needed adjustment. So we donned our scuba gear and went deep into the unknown!

Strength and Conditioning
Have been training with Ade since November 2017, working on flexibility, mobility, stability and nutrition; all with the end goal of making me a stronger, fitter rider.
As a biker, Ade understands what is required and his enthusiasm, combined with incredible knowledge, makes him an engaging coach. He works his clients hard, emphasising the importance of correct form and gradually increasing the repetitions for each exercise. It’s challenging stuff, but good fun. I’d regard myself as a work in progress and I’ve always struggled when it comes to core exercises, but my riding has definitely improved over the last 6 months.
Would I recommend Ade? Yes, without question.

Strength Conditioning & Mindset
When I started racing downhill, I left every race feeling down and felt like I 'should' have done better
At the end of the season I didn't even want to look at my bike and I ended up selling it. After this break I realised that I did want to race but something had to change, so I got in touch with Adrian at RISE to see if they could help with the mental side of racing.
The difference in my mental capacity and approach at races is astounding, Adrian has taught me techniques and methods I can practice and use. I initially thought it would be a simple fix, however I soon learned that it is tough but it is
so worthwhile.

Double Concussion Rehab & Race Training
Working with Adrian has been the turning point for my racing career. Being a rider, Adrian understands exactly what is needed from both a mental and physical point when riding and racing. Not only has Adrian helped me through one of the hardest injuries I have had to deal with but has also got me back to winning races.
Training, psycology, nutrition are all a huge part of racing and Adrian has and continues to work through all these key points to make sure no stone goes unturned, making sure I am always 100% ready come race day. I am still always blown away about just how much knowledge Adrian knows about the human body and corrective exercise and always taken back by just how much input and support he gives week in week out.
I don’t think I’ve ever been able to call training fun before but Adrian has for sure turned that around and has got me stronger, faster and fitter on my bike than ever before because of it.

Neck Pain - Post Crash
I initially went to Adrian with a stiff and painful neck that wouldn’t ease after a minor crash - I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy a forthcoming trip to Whistler. He quickly identified and treated not only my neck, but also other contributing issues, leaving me with massively improved movement and comfort on the bike. I found Adrian’s explanations of what he was treating (and why) and the range of exercises suggested to be clear, informative and succinct - he really understood my needs. While working my neck he also identified some issues with my breathing patterns and gave me a number of exercises that have made a massive difference to my riding. Am currently enjoying a fantastic trip to British Columbia!

Post Crash Rehab
A few years back I wrapped myself round a tree while riding resulting in a hospital stay with a range of injuries, the worst being 5 fractured vertebrae. I was lucky, but the soft tissue damage to my back, hips and ribs had left some lasting issues. Additionally over 10 years ago I was diagnosed with CFS/ME, from which I fought hard to recover and have in the main done so, but I have some energy and recovery issues from riding. I initially came to Adrian to sort out the issues from my injury but from the initial discussions I realised he also could help me get the most out of my riding in terms of energy and recovery.
When working with Adrian he keeps surprising me with his level of knowledge in a range of areas. The fact he is a keen MTB rider he can really understand the demands this amazing sport puts on us physically. His approach of assessing the issues and prescribing a range of activities and exercises to undertake, combined with his knowledge of MTBing has been excellent, although hard work at times to put the effort in around daily life.
In terms of how it has benefited me I can honestly say I feel 10 years younger, I have more energy and the level of aches and pains are far less than I thought I would achieve, and they have even reduced from how they were pre-injury. (Previously I had a lot of lower back pain from an office/car based occupation but this is near non-existent). I can really notice it on the bike as I feel stronger especially in corners and pedaling out of the saddle. What excites me is I can see this progressing and developing as we continue this journey.
